Southampton in April

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Looking at booking a 11 night trip from southamptom to the canarys for April 2011 on IOS, some really good deals on at the mo. But how rough is the sea in April? My wife can get sea sick quite easlily and is a bit nervous about this one. She's happy with the Med but not sure about the Atlantic

Any thoughts?

Hi We went on Independance in June and the first day or two were very windy the seas weren' too rough but a little choppy, however the first ice show was cancelled for a couple of days.

We are actually sailing on IOS again next week to the Canaries.

If you are not a very good traveller, I would recommend flying to Barcelona, straight into the good weather (hopefully)

Please fly to Barcelona to start your trip, alot of sailings out of Southampton suffer with a day or so choppy seas and less than pefect weather, on both the outward and return journey. You would be lucky to have it as smooth as the Med.

Predicting waves on a cruise is a lot like picking mutual funds ... past performance is no guarantee of future results.

Royal Caribbean has Barcelona cruises that visit the Canary Islands?

We came back on the TA this April and the weather through the Bay of Biscay was a bit murky but not rough. The worst weather we have had on the Indy was leaving Cagliari, Sep 08 and that is about as far south in the Med as the Indy goes. I'd say book it, take some ginger and sea sickness tablets and don't worry too much about the weather, storms and rough seas can blow up anywhere.
