Good Hotel in Long Beach

I need a good hotel in Long Beach - will be sailing out next year on Princess Golden to Hawaii - and need a hotel for one night that is close to shopping (want to buy some wine) and restaurants. Last year we stayed at the DoubleTree in San Pedro - and while it was very nice- there is absolutely NOTHING there.

 

Suggestions???

First, I believe you are sailing out of San Pedro...If you want to be closer to your ship, there are a lot of restaurants and a very good wine shop (Off the Vine) immediately around the Crowne Plaza San Pedro...

 

If you are set on Long Beach and want to be close to restaurants and shops (though I am not exactly sure where to buy wine--you may want to have your taxi run by Off the Vine before heading to the pier), my reduced short list would be: Hyatt, Westin, Avia, Renaissance...Going a little bit farther out, you could add the Marriott Courtyard, Hilton, Maya and new Residence Inn...but those would be a little farther from the center of things...You will have a 6-8 mile taxi ride to get to the pier...
