How to get to FC Barcelona

We will be in Barcelona in a few weeks and husband wants to the FC Barcelona stadium. We would then like to go to some of the major sights La Familia Dagrada, Parc G. Las Ramblas. How can we get as many of these sights in in a day? Would it be best to take a taxi to the Stadium? Should we use HOHO? We'll be there on a Saturday, I think.

The HOHO is good if all you want to do is see Barcelona from the bus. But if you want to get off and tour some of the sites you are much better off using taxis and the Metro. The HOHO will cost about 38 euros for 2 for the day. The average taxi fare in town is about 6 euros and a 10 trip Metro pass is 6.65. Or you can buy the Barcelona Card www.barcelonacard.com discount pass. The card is also good for the funicular to the top of Montjuic where the Olympic Sadium is located. The FC Barcelona/Camp Nou Metro stop is Collblanc.

But besides cost you can waste a lot of time on the HOHO. They run counterclockwise, and we found that the next place that we wanted to tour might take an hour or more by HOHO or was at a previous stop, so we just walked or took a cab. So if you only have one day plan you itinerary very carefully. If it's 24 hours that's one thing. If it's 8 hours that's another issue, as La Rambla is enjoyed best after dark. Our favorite Barcelona moments include La Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, La Rambla, Barri Gotic, La Boqueria, Palau de la Musica, Museu Picasso, lunch on the beach at Barceloneta and dinner at Els Quatre Gats. Get a good guide book like Frommer's Barcelona Day by Day or Rick Steves guide.
