Anyone just return from the Norwegian Jewel 9/30/09 cruise. Would love to hear your thoughts on the ship and specifically how the weather was in Canada.:)

Anyone just return from the Norwegian Jewel 9/30/09 cruise. Would love to hear your thoughts on the ship and specifically how the weather was in Canada.:)

 

We just returned from our Canada/New England cruise on the Jewel which left 9/30/09. The ship was in excellent shape. We had a mini-suite and really liked the room arrangement. We had nice weather, except for Sydney where the wind was blowing about 40mph and it was raining. Boston was rather chilly the day we were there, but in Halifax, Quebec, and PEI it was perfect for walking and driving. The temperature was in the 40's at night, but warmed up to the high 50's and low 60's during the day.

The service was good, but the food, IMO, left a lot to be desired. We ate most of our meals in the buffet, since the dining room menus didn't appeal to us most nights. You can expect the same thing every morning for breakfast. There is a good variety, but it hardly changes from day to day. Service is slow in the dining rooms, and most of the time you are not offered tea or coffee. You have to ask for things that are usually offered.

There was not much going on during the day that interested us. They seem to have all their entertainment at night. It would be nice if they had some music or entertainment going on during the afternoons.

We had a great cruise and really enjoyed the places we visited. The itinerary was excellent! We certainly didn't go hungry, and we certainly had our share of the soft serve ice cream and coffee!:D
