ISLAND CAR RENTALS - How long to allow for p/u and drop off?

Hey all....

I have now confirmed that all my car rental companies provide pick up at the pier(s). I need to know how much time should I allow for transport/pickup or transport/drop off at:

 

Hilo: (Enterprise)

Kauai: (Budget)

West Maui Airport: (Budget)

 

????

 

Please share as I'd like to get to planning the "Fun stuff" that will go in between!

I didn't use your companies but I did rent at every location. I wasn't the first person off at any port. We were always off within the first hour and only once did not get all 6 of us on the first shuttle van. That one time the driver went on the first shuttle and was ready with the vehicle by the time the second shuttle came. No location was as much as 15 minutes but that might be a good number to use. I had joined the reward club and could tell it saved time. We were always on our way quickly. We aimed to be back at the rental place 1 hour before sailing. You are getting into risk if you cut it too short. What about traffic, wrong turns, and full shuttles? I know there isn't a casino but I didn't want to gamble on missing the boat. We used a previous hint and took our GPS and saved the rental location.

In general, what time do the shuttles start operating? I think I read that the offices open at 8, so I'm guessing the driver leaves then and heads to the pier, getting you there by 8:30? Thanks

Wondering if all of the rental car companies send shuttles to the pier. My HERTZ reservations do not specify a cruise ship pickup? Would I need to call them or maybe they will be there anyway..Thanks

Information is available from their web site. Find the location and then click on "More Locations Details" and under the "Additional Information" heading it gives the information about shuttles.

 

Here's what it says for the rental locations nearest the Pride of America ports:

 

Kahului Airport (Maui): Pier - Shuttle service provided 0630-2200 every 15-20 minutes.

 

Hilo Airport (Hawaii): Pier - Approximately 3.5 miles from the pier. Service is available 0800-1930. Please call 808-935-2896 after ship docks to arrange for pickup service.

 

Kona Airport (Hawaii): Pier - Approximately 8 miles from the pier. Service is available 0800-1700. Please call 808-329-3566 after ship docks to arrange for pickup service.

 

Lihue Airport (Kauai): Pier - Approximately 2.5 miles from the pier. Service is available 0600-2100. Please call 808-245-3356 after ship docks to arrange for pickup service.
