beaches in Nice and Villefranche port

Recommended Posts

We will be on the Millenium 5/15 and would like to know if anyone has gone to any beaches in the Riveria. We thought maybe we could do that in the monring and then head over to Monaco. The literature I have read says that the Grand Casino opens in the afternoon. Does anyone know what time they mean and what is the dress code for going during the day.

Thanks.

The beaches in the South of France are, primarily, large pebble beaches. Large meaning the size of your fist. I am not sure if there are any sandy beaches in the area around the Villefranche port. When we were there in June, we ended our afternoon at the beach in Nice--it was of the large pebble variety. Note that the ocean water temp. was still quite cool, so I imagine it will not be too enticing in May.

On the Millie itinerary, the best beaches, hands down, are in the Greek Isles.

Lorraine, since you are on the same cruise, are you interested at all in sharing any tours.

I already booked a tour out of Naples of the Almafi Coast and looking into Athens, and Florence tour to Tuscany.

Since we are neighbors, here in NJ, thought you might be interested in joining.

Hope to hear from you. mshilton@aol.com

We were in Vellefranche in July, and we saw a lot of people on the beaches of the town. Just as you arrive by tender to the port, there are beaches, so you dont have to go far. We actually went to Cannes to sunbathe, which was all sand.

We were in Villefrance May 31 of last year. The morning was partly over cast so the wife and I went into Monico. After coming back the weather had improved and it was warm on the beach. There were also alot of people on the beach after 1:00 PM. The wife and I after getting off the train went right to the beach bar and ordered a glass of wine (rose). It was nice just taking everything in. The wife was tired and went back to the ship. I saw how nice the beach looked so I went back to the ship for my bathing suit. The water was great, I at least can say it was my first time swimming in the Meditterean and found it really nice. This had to be one of the most different beaches I had ever encountered. Even though the beaches in Barcelona were probably nicer the beach at Villefrance was just so intriging and colorful. Tim
