Does anyone have any info that might help us? We will be in PV for the day and want a tour guide or driver who knows where to go and what to see for a reasonable rate. How about just taking a taxi, what to look for and how much per person do they usually charge, anyone know? There will be 5 of us and we have no clue on what to see or where to go. We had planed on doing a shore tour through the ship but because of a recent layoff of two us in the party, money will be tight. Any ideas or information at all would be a great help.

The maximum amount of people in a taxi is four, so you will have to reserve something larger.

If you can find some extra bodies, I know a great English speaking guide with a 14 passanger Van who charges $40 US per hour, four hour minimum. (This is for the Van, not per person)

He knows everything Vallarta and is a great guy.

Your other option is a guided tour, but this will end up costing you about the same.

One can take a taxi (costing about 5.00-6.00 dollars) to go to the Malecon beach boardwalk, and ask to be dropped at the Seahorse Statue (2.5 miles from pier). The Yellow Nissan taxi is a good one...The ship will give you a map of this town area where there are shops and restaurants (Senor Frog's, the Shrimp Factory, Carlos O'Brians, The Blue Shrimp etc...). There is also a nice historic cathedral 3 blocks from the beach corner of Zaragoza and Hidalgo. We had a nice time walking on the Malecon beach board, tooked photos with a lot statues/art work along this boardwalk... We also went to Mismaloya beach (where the Night of the Iguana was filmed), and Los Arcos, about another 10-15 minutes drive from town...We ended our day at Hotel Krystal Vallarta, walking distance from the pier, had great ceviche there by the pool and beach...One can also do last minute shopping/lunch at a square right next to where Celebrity docks (Marina area)...There was also a band playing Mexican music there...We wish our ship would not leave until later. We had a great time hanging out on the boardwalk/beach front restaurants in PV in the evening the last time we were there on a land vacation...Have fun...
