We are going on an RCL Liberty West. Carrib cruise on 11/1. Want suggestions on tours / activities. We are stopping in Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel. Where should we go to see the best Myan Ruins, beach & zip lining? What would you judge the best tours in each location. We want something fairly active - no city tours - been there done that. Long boring bus rides are also not our thing.

IMO, best beaches would be in Cozumel, but could be crowded. Nachi Cocum--if you have no children with you--and Paradise Beach--great water toys for kiddos--get good reviews. Second choice is Costa Maya, easy cab ride to Majahual and the malecon with everything laid out. No need to reserve a spot, albeit Pez Quadro is an all inclusive place and takes reservations. Belize has no beaches near port, only on the cays.

Best ruins port is Belize, but most or all of your port day will be taken up. if you choose Xunantunich, use the ship's excursion. You can get a non-ship excursion to Altun Ha for a lower price and there are reputable vendors who are aware of the ships' schedules. Second best ruins port is Costa Maya. Native Choices does an excellent tour to various ruins, Chaccahoben is nearest site, but again it takes up a lot of your day. Cozumel has some ruins but they are small and not very interesting relative to the ones on the mainland. you can take a non-ship vendor tour to Tulun. But this involves a 45 minute, often rough, ferry ride to Playa Del Carmen then a long bus ride to the ruins. Again, an all day thing.

That leaves zip lining. I haven't zipped in any of these ports. There are zip line excursions offered, often along with cave tubing, the only place you can cave tube is in Belize. Cozumel is a fairly flat island and not much "jungle" canopy. You have to take the ferry over to Playa Del Carmen to hook up with zip line vendors. A Costa Maya tour vendor at the port offers a new zip line excursion, but not sure how far away it is or if there are any reviews yet.

So, I'd go beach in Coz, cave tube zip line in Belize and ruins in Costa Maya.

Others on these boards may differ in their experiences and preferences.

What ever you do just go and have a great time!!:):)
