Laughing Gull Posted October 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2009 Has anyone done this excursion? Goto Lake Biking Adventure Pedal through a Caribbean vista of unspoiled beauty. Board your transportation for the short drive to the starting location. Based on your height, you are assigned a mountain/tour bike. Receive a helmet, water bottle, and briefing on the use of your bike. Your professional naturalist guide will escort you north on Bonaire's most scenic paved roads. This trip includes a special treat--the blush of the pink flamingos reflected off the beautiful Goto Lake, an inland salt lake. Follow your guide leisurely, with intermittent stops along the way, and learn about Bonaire's flora, fauna, and natural history. Stop at the beautiful Dos Pos well for refreshments. You may then choose to continue on your bike for the climb toward the charming village of Rincon, or have your bike loaded onto the truck and drive to the village. In Rincon everyone boards the transportation for the return to the ship. Adult: $84.00 Child: $84.00 (12 & under)
travelmaster1 Posted November 27, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2009 Hi I also couldn't find much about this excursion but I though I would give it a go. The trip lasted less than 3 hours total and you are on the bikes for less than half that time as you are taken part of the way by vehicle. The bikes were OK but there was not enough range of sizes even after adjusting saddles for the shorter and taller people in the group. The ride was easy with the wind behind, you didn't have to peddle much for the first half, you spend more time braking to avoid the person in front. There was no talk on ecology/flora and fauna and the flamingos were so far off they could have been plastic for all we know. There is one hill up to the village which takes 5 minutes to climb. Scenery is nothing special. It costs just $10 to hire a bike from the dockside when you get off the ship and this trip cost $84 i think...therefore i consider it a bit of a rip off. Hire your own bike. You can esily cycle along the coast to the lake and back in 3 hours I should think or if not jusy cycle along the coast and around the town.
