Generally, especially if the sailing is not full, they'll give you some leeway to make the final payment. Theoretically they can cancel your booking if you miss the deadline. If you aren't going to make the deadline call the cruise line or your TA and see what you can work out.

If you know that you can't make the payment, better to cancel before the final payment deadline to maximize your deposit refund possibility.

Also be aware that most booking agents add about a week to the final payment date. You may have more time.

 

But, I definately agree, if cash is too tight, then cancel before final payment to get most/all of your money back. Don't loose any needlessly.

Yes, if you are not going to make it, then cancel to avoid contract issues, etc and loss of deposit, or worse.

Budget queen is right, I had the same issue and called NCL. They said as long as its not more then a week late then you should be fine. Try calling to see what they can do for you. I booked thru a TA, Friends Booked directly through NCL... My Final payment date is 9 days before theirs.
