Rare Radio Posted November 9, 2009 Author #27 Share Posted November 9, 2009 Good morning everyone ! Welcome to our first “Fun Day at Sea”. I woke up very early this morning (5AM). . . . I know, I know, I’m on vacation and should sleep in. My body seems to have a system that requires me to get up early. I was able to catch a glimpse of Celebrity Mercury last night. Right at about 11:15PM, I was able to see her as she was sailing just South of the MD-VA state line, and Tangier Island. It was very dark, but I was still able to get a few photos of her.(a little blurry, though) You are often able to see ships while at sea, but they are usually 5 miles or more away. The shipping channel in the Chesapeake Bay is very narrow, so I was able to see her from about 200 yards. I should be sailing with Mercury in 2010. (Hopefully) I have read many reviews recently about the first night dinner was scheduled to be Open Seating. It has been reported that there has been a lot of confusion, and waiting to be served during the first night. This was not the case for our sailing. We had our assigned table in the Captains Club section of the Normandie Dining Room. Our attendants were very prompt, and the food selections were very good. We had a table by the window, and I will be looking forward to going there tonight for the first “Cruise Elegant” night. The Casino Opens today at 8AM, and the Shops all open at 10AM. I am sure I may spend a few minutes in both of those location. . . The water here is very calm. We are about 20nm east of Virginia Beach, and about 580nm from Port Canaveral. Here are a few pics from last night and early this morning. . . More pics later today. Radio Game Show Mania in the Taj Mahal Lounge (FWD) Last night up on Deck 10 Celebrity Mercury in the Chesapeake Bay The sun is starting to come up. . . The forecast for today is Sunny, and 72F. We are sailing through smooth seas, on our way to Port Canaveral .

BBigfoot613 Posted November 9, 2009 #31 Share Posted November 9, 2009 Thanks for taking the time and effort to post the live review and pictures for all of us. The pictures have been great with many more great ones to come I'm sure. I'm assuming that your cabin is somewhere in the 8180's range/area? I'm only asking for what the comparisons of scenery will be for our cabin in a few short weeks. Have a great trip.
ChampionCruiser Posted November 9, 2009 #32 Share Posted November 9, 2009 THANK YOU SO MUCH for this review...I loved loved loved your Majesty reviews and have a feeling I will love this one even more since we'll be on the Pride this June :) We're also very excited about sailing from Baltimore. We've always sailed from the south and have never even been to Baltimore before, so the whole trip should be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see more! Rare Radio Posted November 9, 2009 Author #34 Share Posted November 9, 2009 Hello everyone. . . The sailing so far has been very smooth. I have read many reviews that were written by passengers over the last several months. It seems that there has been a lot of rough seas during this Baltimore to Port Canaveral leg of the cruise. That has not been the case so far. Yes, you can tell that we are out in the ocean, but there has no been the swells, and rolls that I would have suspected. Our weather today was sunny, and warm (83f), and we should be arriving in Port Canaveral by 7AM on Wednesday. I went down to the Ports of Call talk today. There was a lot of explanations about the different excursions all week. The Cruise staff gave away one excursion for each of our 3 ports this week. We had lunch today in the Dining Room, and it turned out to be extremely good. Several of us had California Roll Sushi, and I loved it ! (I should have ordered another. . . We stopped into the Raphael Lounge (Deck 3) for some trivia, and we discussed that we should take a quick nap if we wanted to stay up for the shows tonight (LOL). . . . There is the Wonderful World Show tonight, in the Taj Mahal Showroom, and Adult Comedy later at 11:45PM. The Captains Celebration is tonight, along with the Senior Officers introductions down in the Atrium before Formal night dinner at 6PM. We are currently 470nm from Port Canaveral, and are sailing South at about 15nm/hr. Thanks for tuning in. . . Radio I spent a lot of time outside this morning, just enjoying the sunny skies We will be enjoying Dinner tomorrow night in David’s Steak House (under the see-through funnel) The seas were wonderful today ! We are looking aft over the Poseidon Pool I have to try that big Twister Slide ! There are already Christmas decorations up throughout the ship. This is the Renaissance Atrium. Rare Radio Posted November 10, 2009 Author #44 Share Posted November 10, 2009 Hello everyone. . . We are on our 2nd day at sea on our way to Port Canaveral. The weather has stayed warm, but the clouds are increasing. It almost looks like we are heading for a storm. While watching CBS news this morning (a Denver Affiliate), it was suggested that there is rain in the forecast from Miami up the East Coast to Virginia. I checked the forecast for Port Canaveral, and we will have a 40% chance of showers up until 3PM tomorrow. The ship has been rolling significantly more that it was this time yesterday. The good news is that we should be in port by about 630AM tomorrow. I have been watching the webcam over the last several weeks, and I have noticed that the ship arrives into the Port Canaveral area much earlier than scheduled. We have reserved a car for tomorrow from Budget, and we will be heading over to Kennedy Space Center for the day. I love it over at KSC, and I have already been twice this year. When I went there in January, I purchased the Commanders Club Pass that will allow you unlimited admissions to the facility for 1 year. It was worth the price (just a few dollars more than the standard admission) We don’t have to be back to the ship until 630PM, so we may head over to Jetty Park, Cocoa Beach, or Manatee Park. During the Captains daily noon message, he informed us that we were only about 135 nm due east of Palm Coast, Florida, and we still had about 140nm to reach the pilot station in Port Canaveral. We had a wonderful time at the “Wonderful World” Production show, last night. CCL continues to have very good production shows, with great scenery, and costumes. I usually an unable to sit through an entire show (without having a good reason to leave), but I stayed for the whole show, and it was very good. Here are a few pics from last night and this morning. . . Thanks for tuning in ! Radio Wonderful World production show in Taj Mahal. Mrs Radio Loves the Towel Puppy ! A view from our cabin this morning We are only sailing at about 10kts There are just a few clouds in the sky. . . Our Location. . .It seems like we could arrive tonight ! .
