Just got back today. We took a cab to Las Hadas. There is a $25 charge at the entrance, but you get a coupon book good towards beach chairs, drinks, food. Had a nice area to swim in ocean, also really nice pool. Had the best margaritas of the cruise. Nose was numb after just one!!! Beer by the bucket. Also had cheese nachos and guacomale that was wonderful. The cab fare was $12 per cab. Don't pay more. If they try to charge more get someone on the pier wearing white witht the words "toursim" on the back. She/he will take care of it. We shared a cab with 2 other people so only $3 each.

Has anyone tried the Turtle Experience? Is it worth the money?

Thanks.................

I'm deciding between the Turtle Experience and the Manzanillo Beach and Shopping which I believe includes some time at the Colima Bay Cafe and Beach Club. I initially thought we should do the turtle thing but from the write up, I think we will see more on the Beach and Shopping tours.

Anyone been on either of these tours?

Hi all, we just returned from a cruise on the Carnival Spirit. Our group booked a snorkeling tour through PADI Underworld Scuba that was just wonderful. Our group of eight had a private boat with a certified scuba instructor that took us to three great snorkeling sites. The snorkeling was as good as some of the best sites I have been to in the Caribbean. Here is the link:

We also went to the Las Hadas and were really disappointed. The drinks were good but they should be at between $8 - $13 a drink. Skip Las Hadas and spend time at La Boquita beach after the snorkeling. Very good cheap drinks, great seafood and live music. Underworld Scuba will let you spend the afternoon there if you want and then give you transportation back to their shop where you can get a cab back to the ship.

jmike - Thanks for the information about your snorkeling trip. Their website looks really interesting. Do they require a deposit up front? Do you give them a credit card? Did you have any kids on your trip? I'm thinking of bringing mine that are 7 and 10 (we'll be on the Spirit 11/8). They are both beginner snorkelers. Are all three dive sites accessed from the boat or are there any beach entries? Thank you so much...

We went to Playa Miramar in Manzanillo and had a great time at a resturant called La Tablea. The table. They had nice chairs out front and sold buckets of beer and drinks. We rented boggie boards $2.00 hr and took a banana boat ride for 2.50 each or $15.00 a boat load. The taxi was $12.00 for a taxi only 4 per cab. Take it from the ship and go straight to the beach. Not much shopping in town and very little English is spoken here, so know a little spanish. Very laid back and only a few venders. the Table is locaed near the Flea Market. Well worth the trip. The hotels do not really want you there and tend to make you feel like they are doing you a favor by letting you in. at least Las Hades did. Temp was about 92 on Jan 25th and the water temp was 82. NICE. no snorkling here but lots of fun

Hi Michelle, No deposit was required to make reservations for a snorkeling trip. Your kids should do fine. Our guide told us that they frequently teach kids to snorkel. Each of the three sites were accessed from the boat. Each are near shore and not deep but because of the rocks on shore you can't walk up on the beach. The boat leaves from a nice beach with great sand and when you return you can use the beach. The water was very calm the day we went. The last site is a sunken ship which is only 2 feet below the surface in some areas. It is very easy to swim over and stand up on the ship's decks.

We paid by credit card at the dive shop when we got there. You have to take your own taxi to their dive shop from the ship. They are not allowed to come into the ship yard and pick you up. The dive shop is out in the hotel zone near the Las Hadas and other hotels. You can get a taxi at the pier for about $10 to $15.

Nutmegcruiser:

Too bad we will miss each other by one week--we are also traveling on the Spirit leaving 3/17/05 and returning 3/25/05-with our 9yo daughter--too bad, it would have been great if she could have made a friend before we sailed!
