gtaylor Posted January 9, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 9, 2005 We've eaten at Turtle Pier a couple of times, and it's fine. It is probably best known for their Lobster Night dinners. We wonder how you managed to select this restaurant from all that are available on St. Maarten/St. Martin? As for the casino, will you have a car? Our favorite is Princess Casino, a bit off the beaten path, but there are several right in downtown Philipsburg.
Clasina Posted January 9, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Turtle Pier is one of my favourite breakfast spots near the airport ... food's fine, the "on the dock" atmosphere is nice. But what made you pick this one out of all the possibilities?
Big Ed Posted January 9, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted January 9, 2005 Thanks for the quick response. We picked Turtle Pier because it was one of Fodor's choises (Thanks for the website gtaylor). We like tring different restaurants and thought this one would be a little off the beaten path. This will be only our second time in St Maartin,so any suggestions are appreciated. We will be there on The Dawn in April from 8am to 6pm with only one other ship,so it want be crowded. Rich And Sylvia Posted January 12, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 12, 2005 Turtle Pier sounds good to us. How do you get there from the cruise dock? Any other good breakfast spots within walking distance from the ship? Thanks everyone!
gtaylor Posted January 12, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2005 Turtle Pier is a long taxi ride from the cruise pier. I'd allow close to 30 minutes minimum, and that could easily change to well over an hour with traffic, even quite a bit more if you happen to hit a bridge opening. For walking distance, We'd go with Pasanggrahan, Kangaroo Court or The Jerk.
Big Ed Posted January 13, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted January 13, 2005 gtaylor, we will not have a car. Where is Princess casino located.
gtaylor Posted January 13, 2005 #8 Share Posted January 13, 2005 Princess Casino is across Simpson Bay Lagoon from the Turtle Pier. Look at the map. Princess is off of Union Road, on the water at H-6, marker '21'. I just discovered the the Dolphin Casino has reopened in a new location (they got kicked out of their original location for not paying rent) at the Sunset Theatre complex. That's right on your route. Any taxi driver will know where it is, but FYI, it's at I-5 on the map, very near the marker '23'.
