Thisis our first to Costa , been on Princess mostly and thought we would try this , can any one give me a comparison, what line is this compared to

This is certainly a matter of personal opinion, but having been on both many times I still slightly favour Costa.

Costa ships are very up-to-date and glitzzy, the down side will always be the rudeness of some of your fellow travelers. the boarding & getting off and the five different languages. (if its not in English its not for you)

Some find the style of food to the American taste not quite the same, while those who like French & Itailian cooking it is awesome. I personally do not like pasta or Italian food, but never have any problems eating at any time. the choice of dishes is bigger (was in Feb) than Princess, with far more fish choices on the menu.

Most shows are in English the remainder can mostly be understood by us. also English is understood on board by most servers. You will be seated with English speaking guests and most tour can also be understood. Maxium two languages.

The up-side is certainly the price, we are sailing on the Serena next Feb a full suite with all the extras for the price of an outside on the Grand/ Ruby.

If you like a drink with your meals then the X1 package is good, if you drink say 5/8 per day each than J2 drinks on the whole are more expensive than Princess, but not by much, the Gratuities are slightly less.

Give them a try we can alway go back to HAl or Princess

We've only been on Princess and NCL in Europe. We were drawn to Costa because of the locations and the price and we are due to cruise in a few weeks on our first Costa holiday. We're very keen to compare the cruise lines - NCL was very European and when in Rome do as the Romans do. The Princess experience was fantastic but the pricing for this is growing as much as the popularity of cruising. At least with Costa you pay less for the cruise but probably more for the drinks (they have to make their profit somewhere) and it's your choice about what and how much you drink.

This will be our 34th cruise but first on Costa. Information from past guests is always helpful.

always concerned when the announcements in foreign languages take much longer than the english..always figure they start out by saying "don't tell the Americans but..."

ok bad joke...ships are nice, but we picked Costa for the ports...food etc was all a bonus

My concern has always been that they are saying,

"Would all our Italian passengers please make they way quickly to the lifeboats."
