Thanks for giving the poster a nice and honest answer. :D

 

Unlike a couple of posters on another thread who felt the question asked needed to have smart aleck remarks instead of a decent answer.:(

 

Ships are constantly fighting corrosion, its just part of life in salt water. Of course 40-60ft seas doesn't help that either. On most cruises you almost always see painting going on at every port, they are just constantly fighting corrosion.

 

The Tugs/Fireboats spraying water is a traditional celebration for new ships..... Queen Mary 2 had the same thing when she arrived in Ft. Lauderdale.
