AEMurphy Posted November 15, 2009 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2009 Has anyone done this particular itinerary yet? We are looking to book it for Dec. 2010. Any recommendations on which Category Cabin? It is on the River Countess. We are looking at a Cat 3 but are concerned about the noise going through the locks at night. Is this really a problem? Any other thoughts or reviews on this itinerary - I haven't been able to find any on CC. Thanks for the help!
tiggypooo Posted November 15, 2009 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2009 You will hear the noise from the locks in any category. I was in a suite and could hear the noise quite well. If you're a light sleeper just bring some earplugs with you.

pacmom Posted November 15, 2009 #4 Share Posted November 15, 2009 You definitely don't want a cabin very forward or very aft. This is where the "thrusters" are located. They move the boat from side to side and are used for manuvering in the locks. We were in cabin 202 and after being jolted out of sleep once or twice, we still heard it but just rolled over. It is always good to be midship on a river boat. On our trip on the Seine we did not cruise at nite. Our trip on the Countess was from Bucharest-Amesterdam. We sailed at nite a lot. It is a wonderful boat and cruise line. Pat
