We stay at a great B & B in the charming Marigny neighborhood just below the French Quarter. The owners are licenced tour guides and provide great concierge. Rates vary depending on time of year but very reasonable. (1021 Kerlerec Street) There is a free service concierge site supported by New Orleans tour guides www.tourbookingsneworleans.com. Has the B & B's listed.

Avoid the tourist trap "tourist info centers" on every French Quarter street.
