Grand Bahama Excursions

Last year I was on VOS out of Cape Liberty. We had such a great time that we booked again for July, 2005 with 5 friends. The only thing about the cruise that I found disappointing was Freeport. I hated it. Well, I decided that this time I would spend the Freeport day on a beach excursion. Last time we went shopping and to lunch. I should have stayed onboard. I went to the RCCL excursion page and the only two excursions that they offer are dolphin swim or encounter. All the others are offered at the port but not for our cruise. It makes no sense. Can anyone help me with beach excursion info? I usually book all excursions through RCCL because of the convienence. I guess this will change this time around.

you can take a taxi to Port Lucaya and right across the street are 2 hotels and a casino.. There is a walkway between them and it leads to a nice beach. There is a beach bar and rest rooms etc. The hotels let you use it... I guess in return for you to buy some lunch or drinks.

just got back from a Bahama tour. Our first stop was Freeport Grand Bahama. We booked a motorized bike tour with coconutz cruisers. We had a blast! The bikes are motorized so no worries about peddling the bike. We had 6 in our tour. We stopped often. They even gave us bottled water, lunch, and a conch demonstration where we got to sample fresh conch. It was delicious. We ran out of time so had to miss spending time at the beach, but was back on the boat in time for all aboard. :)
