Ship snorkeling excursions - comments/experiences appreciated

Our primary activity when on vacation in the Caribbean is snorkeling. We have chosen the 2/24 Journey cruise as we will be able to go to a few places to which we have not snorkeled. On a Celebrity S. Carib cruise, we took all ship-sponsored snorkeling excursions and all except one in Dominica was terrible (too many people, etc., etc.). I am going to try to locate some nonship excursions, but just in case I have to use the ship excursions, I have a few comments/questions. I'm wondering since the Journey has fewer passengers that maybe the snorkeling excursions won't have 40 people squished on the boat - any experiences? I know it is impossible to determine how many people are snorkelers at any given time, but maybe some of you have snorkeling excursion experiences on the Journey that you can share.
