Snorkeling in St Croix

I had recently read that there is a beach just outside the gates of the cruise ship dock, walking distance, to the left that has good snorkeling. Does anyone know the name of the beach and whether snorkeling equipment is available to rent?

Hey niceneasy!

You are fortunate that the cruise pier is on the west end of St. Croix. All the beaches there are sandy white and calm. Its excellent for snorkelers and since there is a turtle preserve about a mile a way to the south (to the right when exiting the pier), you are guaranteed to see some when snorkeling. Regarding what beach specifically, towards the south (to the right) there is Dorsch Beach and Sand Castle Beach. Sand Castle is a Hotel/resort and offers chairs, umbrellas, restaurant and snorkel equipment. Dorsch Beach is just a beautiful beach and has no facilities. To the north is Coconut's beach (fun beach bar and beach) and Rainbow beach. Both are beautiful beaches and Rainbow has amenities (wave runners and snorkel equipment). Rainbow tends to be a bit crowded on Cruise ship days so if you want to avoid crowds I would go south.

Have a great time!!
