Fly me to the Oasis...

Recommended Posts

Posting from 37K feet thanks to free inflight wireless aboard Delta. I am hoping our approach into FLL will allow us to get a shot of Oasis of the Seas from the air. We have two days on her to explore from bow to stern and top to bottom. I am hoping to tour and see the glass bottom of the ship!

Got questions? Post them here and I will do my best to answer them. I am live blogging and posting photos as best as I can. We are about 30 minutes away until landing in FLL. We are thrilled for this opportunity!

Thanks for the offer.

OK Chuck here goes.

Checking the deck plans on 5,6, & 8 it looks like there could be doors from the cabin hallways into BW, RP, and CP half way between the centrums. If

What is in the "bridge" accross the back of the ship between decks 12-14? Looks like a great view from big windows but nothing on the deck plans.

What decks can you enter the theatre from?

No one has posted pictures of the dinning room. Would you be first? Also Wind Jammer.

Thanks again. Looking forward to seeing the big ship Oasis real soon.

Eating in WJ..took pics. Hairspray is running tom nite. Will try to get tix as I could not before I left. Also tom nite is a rehearsal for a new show called Oasis of Dreams.

Took pics of doors. Imagine an inset the width of two doors cut into the halls. Stateroom doors open into that inset and NOT the hallway.

I finished my tour of the open rooms. Taking all of the photos off of my camera. Ran into Captain Wright and got a photo with him.

Quick Notes:

In the after Elevator section you cannot walk between the starboard and port towers on Deck 7. You must go up or down one floor. This is only on Deck 7 with aft elevators.

The room set up on Deck 7 forward to set up Wireless is indeed very tiny.

There is supposed to be a show at the Aquatheatre tomorrow night at 2300, but there are no more tickets. We are going to try to go standby.

The shows we were able to get tickets to are:

AbbaCadabra - 11pm Tribute to ABBA tonight

Tomorrow

Ice Show at 3:30

Hairspray at 5pm

The Casino is in fact HUGE.

Wait until I tell you and show you SECRET Central Park View Balcony staterooms.

Internet is free but slow so let me do the best that I can.

I have not seen any entries into the BW, RP or CP, but I am discovering new things each time I go around them

Someone had asked about tables for two and I saw lots of them. I took a photo on Deck 5 of the dining room where I saw them.

We do feel a little movement tonight but had no idea we had pulled away from the dock until Capt. Wright blew the horn.

Upthread someone asked about where you enter. I said one took you right into the Rising Tide Bar (which is not in operation today) and the other takes you just to the right of Sorrentos. You and exit from the starboard side.

You enter the theatre from Decks 4 and 5. Studio B from Deck 4. You go "around it on deck four by going through the Casino on either side.

Solarium is beautiful. I was told to eat there one time because the entrees are no more than 500 calories are are really good.

Park Cafe for breakfast and avoid the WJ.

The elevators are very big so for those with mobility issues, there is plenty of room to turn around a scooter. However, there are some real issues with getting around for someone with mobility issues in certain places e.g. in the solarium and in central park.

You know that statue of the guy holding balloons outside in the BW? There is now masking tape around the bottom of the balloons so someone doesn't get hurt running into the metal "strings".

All in all I am not complaining. This is a shakedown cruise and as such there are things that need to be shaken down. There was one issue I will be sending a note to Captain Wright about.

I look forward to just enjoying my short time on her.

Keep up with the questions. If I get time tonight, I will shrink and upload a few photos.

Thanks for taking questions. :)

If it's not too late, I've got one for you...

I'm wondering who is allowed access to the outdoor viewing area atop the bridge and bridge wings? Is that open to general passengers? Are there any restrictions of any sort? Where are the access points?

Thanks!

I am only going by what I was told this evening. I have to confirm it with another source. The access was on Deck 14 for sailaway, but on revenue cruises will be limited to the kid's in the kids club ONLY. It is meant for them to have a safe deck in which to explore where there is no escape except back through the kid's club.

It was open on our sailaway by going all the way forward on the port side. It is right in front of Adventure Ocean.

Hey Chuck,

A couple of questions for you........We are the last cabin overlooking the Aqua Theater.......11729.......Should we try to get tickets or enjoy the Aqua show from the balcony?.........Compared to other ships, the rock wall, how much taller........Photos of the Gym and Casino if possible. Last question and nobody has asked, If I give you an e-mail address, could you buy me 2 Oasis Coke bottles.....I will pay for shipping and a little extra....By the time I get on I am sure they will be gone.......Let me know and I will give my e-mail address.....basically it is like my screem name.

Thanks and have a Great Time.....I am very Jeolous!

Mike

Here is a little nickel knowledge. See the little notch in the sign on the door?

9730door.jpg

That shows you which way is forward on the ship.

On another thread, someone asked about the soft ice cream dispenser on the pool deck. I have not seen one but I will look again today. I did not see one in the WJ.

The do in fact have soft serve ice cream available. There is a dispenser by the H20 Zone as well as two in the Wipe Out Cafe in the Starboard Aft of Deck 15.

Here is one of the shots I took of Central park at night.

Does anyone else have any questions?

OK, thanks so much for the info! And if you find out anything more, I'd love to hear it. :)

But darn, I'd heard that this might be the case with that area but was really hoping otherwise. :::sigh:::

Thanks again.

I love this picture of CP at night. Thanks so much for posting it here. WoW, what a nice job. Please stop by the photo office and show it to Monica. Tell her Pete wants a print and watch her eyes! I love that little girl :)

Ok several Adventure Ocean employees informed me today that they decided they needed more deck space and the area above the bridge will be open to the general public.

I am trying to get confirmation of something I heard today which was that the WOW phone, now called Royal Connect will be $17.50 for TWO iPhones for the week. Pricing and details are still being worked out.

The AO staff did say the issuance would be handled at the pier for the kids program muster bracelets. The GPS locators may become smaller.

Here are a couple of shots for you:

This is on top of the Sky Bar on the Starboard side. Can anyone tell me what this is?

And here is a shot of the Johnny Rockets Breakfast menu.

The balconies at the aft of the ship on Decks 11 and 12 are open to the public. Great options for watching the show in the Aqua theatre. I will try to get pictures of them tomorrow before I debark!

Thanks so much for the picture of CP at night. It is fantastic! I do have some questions for you.

Can you confirm that Johnny Rockets is free of charge for Breakfast?

Is it my understanding that you must go though the Casino to get to the Theater?

Is there any place other than WJ open for lunch on Embarkation day?

Your information has been so helpful. Thank you very much! It is so nice of you to do this.

It's a marine crane. More info here:

www.palfingersystems.com

or more specifically, http://www.palfingersystems.com/pdf/Palfinger-systems_Cranes.pdf

Maybe they'll use it to put troublemakers in time out or pluck stragglers off the pier/pilot boat.....:D:eek::D

You are correct, it is a crane for lifting trees into and out of Central Park as well as other supplies. It came up after a question about Pirates and someone said that looked like a Ray Gun.

Ok, I have a new favourite of Central Park at night:

I cannot confirm that about JR for breakfast. As I understand it, there will be a charge. I know there is a sheet showing complimentary, but I imagine it will be implemented for Crowd Control.

You can enter from Deck 4 forward by either walking forward through the Royal Promenade and walking down the stairs. On deck 4, the only way to get from the forward lifts to the aft lifts is to go through the Casino. However this is a big change from Freedom in that you do not have to go up and down between decks to go around Studio B.

I am not sure about the WJ being the only place open for lunch. I think I remember Cafe Promenade and Sorrentos being open as well. We just went to the WJ out of habit.

Here are a few more final shots.

Royal Promenade as seen from above Boleros in the Diamond Lounge.

Dazzles Night club...couldn't you see holding your wedding here?

The wake of Oasis of the Seas as seen from the aft of the ship.

Ya'll know I am a TA, but let me tell you that everything you think you know about this ship...you just don't until you experience it for yourself.

I don't care how you book it. Do it yourself, through a TA, online or whomever. Make it a point to get yourself on this ship.
