Bags program in Miami?

I am wondering about the bags program when arriving in Miami.

We have a late flight out of Fort Lauderdale and thought that it would be a big help if we could turn our bags in.

Since we have not done this before I do not know if we would be able to have our bags go to FL if we dock in Miami.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Many thanks, in advance.

Sure. Any FLL flite after 2pm will qualify as part of the BAGS program. It's well worth it.

yes IF you are on one of participating airlines...for instance Southwest is NOT one of the participating airlines.

Thanks Halos and Foursum.

Since we fly home on Delta I think we qualify.

yes!! We flew Delta and used the bags program and LOVED it. It was SO nice to leave the cabin, spend the day in Miami, go the the airport with a carry-on and not have to touch our luggage until we arrived back in ME.

It was bliss. :)

We also flew Delta to Rochester via Miami and our 4 bags came right off the conveyor as promised.

On Nov 13, those on the BAGS program were asked to come to Azura MDR on the Jewel and then "escorted" off as a group. We didn't have to identify our luggage or see it or touch after putting it out the evening before. We were delayed in departure while the customs dogs sniffed our luggage but we were still in MIA at 10:15 for a 12:20 flite. Plenty of time for coffee and newspaper.
