lisajm Posted December 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Trying to decide which Mayan ruins are better. Has anyone been to both or know which would be better?
2112 Posted December 1, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2009 I've been to both and Xunantunich is the more interesting of the two. http://www.pbase.com/2112/xunantunich vs. http://www.pbase.com/2112/altun_ha
lisajm Posted December 1, 2009 Author #3 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Thanks 2112! I was thinking that when I was considering which one to chose. Your pictures are awesome! Lisa
BananaAnna Posted December 2, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2009 I sneaked a peek over to your Tulum photos - they're awesome! We hope to get there next March.
Rare crewsweeper Posted December 2, 2009 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2009 I've been to both and Xunantunich is the more interesting of the two. http://www.pbase.com/2112/xunantunich vs. http://www.pbase.com/2112/altun_ha I'll agree with Xunantunich. But many cruisers do enjoy the River Wallace boat ride portion of the excursion to Altin Ha over the long bus ride to Xunantunich. Great pics...2112:)

Rare crewsweeper Posted December 2, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2009 Which one do you think would be more interesting for 4 and 7 year old boys? Thanks!! Altun Ha if doing the River Wallace route. Much more interesting than the longer bus ride to Xunantunich. Possibility of seeing gators and other wildlife. It would be a struggle for them to climb up to the top of the temple at Xunantunich. Xunantunich's little hand cranked ferry across the river is kind of interesting but only a very short part of the tour.
