Sayra Posted December 1, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2009 Hubby and I are thinking about doing a 'swim with dolphins' excursion in either Grand Cayman or Roatan. GC is cheaper (especially if paired with the Stingray, which we are going to do anyway), but it sounds like Roatan has a nicer experience. Any thoughts, suggestions, or experiences? Although I am very budget minded, I will pay for an experience if it is worth it. Thanks~
tantara Posted April 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted April 15, 2010 I would like to know the answer to this as well.
curacaoqueen Posted April 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted April 15, 2010 I just read a Cayman newspaper and a baby dolphin died there. Why would anybody do this excursion, it's animal cruelty.
cruisingforsix Posted April 18, 2010 #4 Share Posted April 18, 2010 I agree with you about this being anomal cruelty . my daughter and i were thinking about doing this on a cruise a few years ago until i saw a show about it. it was very disturbing how these dolphins are taken from their real homes ,some as far away as asia and captured and made to perform. This is agood place to get the word out about these kinds of things that sound so exciting until we know how it's done. On this same cruise while we were eating dinner we looked out and saw many dolphins jumping up and swimming beside us . while we did not get to interact with them we felt alot better knowing they were there by choice and not held captive. MamaParrotHead Posted April 18, 2010 #5 Share Posted April 18, 2010 I didn't see where she asked for anyone else's opinions be forced on her. I'd go in GC, Roatan's Tabayana Beach isn't to be missed. :) GC, as a whole, doesn't "float my boat" a whole heck of a lot. Have fun.
cruisingforsix Posted April 18, 2010 #6 Share Posted April 18, 2010 She did ask for suggestions though. A little information is not a bad thing. Ialso said i would not personally do it. No need to get so defensive. We were going to do this excursion until we learned some of the details.
