Taxi to Paradise Point

I heard you can take a taxi up for less then the tram would cost and then ride the tram down for free. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?

You can take a taxi up to Paradise Point. Haven't heard the part about the free tram back down though. I'll see what I can find out.

It appears there were some recent issues with some taxis bringing people up to Paradise Point and telling them to ride back down, insinuating this could be done for free. That is not the case, the tram ride is not free. Part of the solution is that the road up to Paradise Point is now closed for most of the day so that taxis/cars cannot drive up.

With that being said, if there is no vehicle traffic, can I walk up? Another post said it was narrow and dangerous with taxis/safari jeeps.

Is there any BOGO coupons at least. $20pp is a bit much for a ride up a hill. Maybe I'll just get a Bushwhacker at a bar on the beach!

Islander - What about walking up and back down if the road is closed to traffic? Is it doable for people who exercise every day? How far is it one way? I'd like to see it but not sure I want to spend the $40!

There are people that walk the Paradise Point route for excercise - definately a work out. Map says its about a mile. Just need to keep in mind that it is steep. Paradise Point is at 700ft... so you are going from sea level to 700 ft.
