LounVal Posted December 8, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 8, 2009 I heard you can take a taxi up for less then the tram would cost and then ride the tram down for free. Can anyone tell me if this is true or not?
tiffyrobyn Posted December 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 8, 2009 I would also like to know if this is true!

The Islander Posted December 9, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 9, 2009 You can take a taxi up to Paradise Point. Haven't heard the part about the free tram back down though. I'll see what I can find out. --Islander

The Islander Posted December 9, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 9, 2009 It appears there were some recent issues with some taxis bringing people up to Paradise Point and telling them to ride back down, insinuating this could be done for free. That is not the case, the tram ride is not free. Part of the solution is that the road up to Paradise Point is now closed for most of the day so that taxis/cars cannot drive up. --Islander
knot knormal Posted December 9, 2009 #7 Share Posted December 9, 2009 With that being said, if there is no vehicle traffic, can I walk up? Another post said it was narrow and dangerous with taxis/safari jeeps.
LounVal Posted December 10, 2009 Author #8 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Is there any BOGO coupons at least. $20pp is a bit much for a ride up a hill. Maybe I'll just get a Bushwhacker at a bar on the beach!
The Islander Posted December 10, 2009 #9 Share Posted December 10, 2009 There are some coupons on their website, but they look to be for souvenir type stuff. You can check it out at http://www.stthomasskyride.com/. --Islander
coffeegirl23 Posted December 10, 2009 #10 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Islander - What about walking up and back down if the road is closed to traffic? Is it doable for people who exercise every day? How far is it one way? I'd like to see it but not sure I want to spend the $40!
The Islander Posted December 10, 2009 #11 Share Posted December 10, 2009 Hello coffeegirl23, There are people that walk the Paradise Point route for excercise - definately a work out. Here it is on a map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Frenchman+Bay+Rd%2FMandela+Cir%2FRte+30&daddr=Unknown+road&geocode=FWa5FwEdj2ch_A%3BFSK0FwEdaH0h_A&hl=en&mra=ls&doflg=ptm&sll=18.332539,-64.91861&sspn=0.004675,0.009624&ie=UTF8&ll=18.332264,-64.913557&spn=0.009349,0.019248&t=h&z=16. Map says its about a mile. Just need to keep in mind that it is steep. Paradise Point is at 700ft... so you are going from sea level to 700 ft. --Islander
