At the end of the ferry dock on St. John there is a taxi stand and typically several taxi drivers waiting to take people to the beach or on island tours. Taxi drivers are tour guides. You could join others and do a group tour or you could request a private tour for just your group - usually a bit more $. Here are the tour rates from the taxi rate sheet for St. John: "Sightseeing Tours: 2 hours - One passenger $50; two or more passengers $25 per person. 3 hours - One passenger $70; two or more passengers $35 per person."

Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay both have a taxi stand area and there are usually several taxis waiting around. At the two hotel beaches, Great Cruz Bay (Westin) and Caneel Bay, there are usually a few taxis in the taxi area or outside the lobby - otherwise someone at the front desk could call one for you. Generally there aren't taxis waiting around at other beach but access to one varies. If you were considering a different beach then post which one for taxi info. on that beach.

I used a guy last time we were in St. Thomas. He took us right to the dock where we caught the boat over to St.John. It was really great and he met us right at the dock. I think the guy's name was Percy and he had one of the open air buses. His rates were really reasonable. We set him up before we left via email. His email address is pjstours@gmail.com. Have a blast in St. John! We loved it.

Any recommend St. John, good snorkel areas from the beach??

Cinnamon Bay and Trunk Bay are nice beach with good snorkeling and additional amenities like restrooms, food/drink and taxi stand. There are other beaches with good snorkeling but few to no amenities.
