Glassrobinson Posted December 20, 2009 #177 Share Posted December 20, 2009 Delaware is still getting snow and we already have about 16 inches. We are under State of Emergency and so is Maryland. No travel unless absolutely necessary. I believe it goes until 6 am tomorrow. But the Flyers and Sixers games are on....Eagles game got moved to tomorrow. MDSue Posted December 20, 2009 #179 Share Posted December 20, 2009
We are Pride cruisers and happy to report we're checked into a Baltimore hotel for the night. Being from Northern Virginia, we hadn't anticipated driving the hour to the port until tomorrow, but didn't want to leave it to chance given the weather so decided getting here today would be prudent. Additinally, our son and family would be driving down from Central New Jersey. Roads were pretty lousy, but from both direcrtions on I-95, we're all here and accounted for. We have met others at the hotel who came ahead of time for the same reason. Looking forward to tomorrow, but feeling badly as have to assume there will be many who can't get to the ship. Nan
Glad you all made it to Baltimore safe. It looks like the snow has slowed down considerbly now. Hopefully the roads will be better tomorrow. I just wonder how they are going to dig all thise parked cars out:eek: Beautiful pics-Grumpus

CruiserBren Posted December 20, 2009 #183 Share Posted December 20, 2009 I had the same thought of those returning to Baltimore tomorrow!! Those returning on the Pride will also have fun. They will be headed towards Cape Hatteras as the storm is intensifying. When they get off, some will have to dig out their vehicles from a foot or more of snow. photoman100169 Posted December 20, 2009 #186 Share Posted December 20, 2009 I just saw in the cc news and feature section a post that said that the pride will be sailing from baltimore on monday this week. How does that work? Are they cutting that sailing down to a 6 day trip, or do they stay out and come back next monday? I am really starting to freak out a little bit here. I will be on the pride next week. (HOPEFULLY)

Unless, of course, there's another blizzard next Sunday.

Heirloom Posted December 20, 2009 #192 Share Posted December 20, 2009
Just a warning. Our insurance covered all expenses for us getting to the ship, but not the cruise itself. All we kept getting told was to due whatever it took to get to the ship.
We always insure BOTH air and cruise......i.e., the entire travel plan, with Access America. Not cheap, but who knows.....someday may need the backup ! (hope not).
dclark Posted December 20, 2009 #193 Share Posted December 20, 2009 I thought the east coast could handle snow. State of emergency? Stores closed? Two weeks ago, we had 20" of snow and -12 temps, followed with another 8" of snow.Schools closed for one day, all stores were opened. We have few snow plows here and my street is still covered with a couple of inches of ice. All it takes is common sense and chains on your tires and you are good to go!
