Bars and/or restaurants around Front St.?

By all means, there are LOTS of places where guys can get a brew while awaiting completion of the shopping frenzy. Go see Michael at the Sint Rose Beach Bar. It's right on the beach just a few footsteps from Front Street. Right next door is Taloula Mango's. Then for kicks just walk down the beach toward Bobby's Marina and go to the Greenhouse. On your way back stop by the lobby bar at the Holland House Hotel (which also looks out over the beach).

Finally, arrange to meet the power shopper at Touch of Gold Jewelers where they'll give you a freebie beer or cola while the shopper inspects the goods! And if you still have a need for liquids, go to Burger King and buy a Coke for $3.00.

Hello,

Hey....kinda funny....I bought my wife a ring there......Touch of Gold jewlers and when he rung up the sale, i asked if he had anything else for me. He said sure and handed us 2 Heinekens in a can. I drank them as i walked down the street.

Also is Everyting Cool still around?

They have casinos also along Front street.

They have remodeled Front Street now, but there were plenty of $1.00 beer stands on the sidewalk before. And, as gogetter said, all the jewelry stores have a stash in the back that they gladly tap into to keep your wife in the store and your credit card close by.:D Stop in Shoppers Paradise and get a reasonably priced Cuban to enjoy with your beer.

You can walk down the street with a beer, but it doesn't go well with the merchants and locals. Here's what one merchant told me:

"Some people off the cruiseships will carry an open beer down the street wearing the most disgusting worded T-shirts. They would never do this at home. Don't they understand Philipsburg is the capitol of our nation and it deserves some level of respect?"

Donna,

The thing about the islands is that you can be free-spirited. My wife and I have returned to St.Maarten every year since our honeymoon 11 years ago. Not once has any merchant minded if you walked into their establishment with a beer or any other drink for that matter. They have no open container laws, until you have an accident involving alcohol. Yea, I know...You can drink and drive, but if you get in an accident, your hit.(LOL) Anyway, our favorite place to have a beer on Front St. is "Cool Runnins" Its a real good time even though its kinda touristy. I do agree with Kal. It isn't in good taste to walk around with shirts that could be perceived as insulting to locals.
