How long does it take to disembark?

Hi, This is my first Cruise. We are sailing on Carnival, Fascination, 1-31-05 till 2-4-05. My documents say that we arrive in Miami at 7:00am on 2-4-05. I was just wondering how long I have to expect it to take to get off of the ship. I am on the bottom floor. My flight doesn't leave Fort Lauderdale until 5:00pm, So I was trying to see how much time I had to kill and how I should do it. I was thinking about renting a car and maybe go hang around at the beach, but am not sure on what do. I would appreciate peoples suggestions. Thanks.

They try and get the passengers off as quickly as possible because they have to get the ship ready for the next group of passengers, so you really cannot hang around the ship much past 10am. The idea of a rental car is a good one because you can put your luggage in the car and not have to worry about that.

So is 10:00am a pretty good guess then? I might as well rent a car since I have to go all the way back to Fort Lauderdale, Does anyone know what a cab would cost for that trip?

It all depends on the ship's arrival time, U.S. Customs and whether there are passengers trying to hide from Customs or the Purser. You might get off at 9:30 a.m. then again I've actually seen the ship arrive a little late and no passengers get off before 11 a.m.

You could phone a cab company and see what their rate would be but renting a car would be cheaper. You could go over to South beach before heading to the airport or FLL. Have fun.

people are set to disembark based on their flight schedules--since yours is so late you will most likely be one of the last off the ship
