Last Minute Purchase at the Pier Price - Any experience?

We are booked on VOS leaving Sunday and have a friend that is now looking at coming with us, the price right now is $1319/person but we are wondering if anyone has experience with buying the cruise at the pier?

What can they realistically expect to pay as a walk up? Is it that much cheaper than booking now - knowing they may not get on.

Thanks

Can’t do it anymore since 9/11. The final manifest needs to be submitted to the TSA 72 hours prior to sailing, so there are no pier sales, only upgrades (if available). If you leave Sunday, I’d say your friend should book now, it’s not going to get any cheaper.

I don't think you can even do this anymore - due to new homeland security rules, the passenger manifest has to be in Big Brother's hands well before departure.
