ItsMeJedB Posted December 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2009 We are booked on VOS leaving Sunday and have a friend that is now looking at coming with us, the price right now is $1319/person but we are wondering if anyone has experience with buying the cruise at the pier? What can they realistically expect to pay as a walk up? Is it that much cheaper than booking now - knowing they may not get on. Thanks
mspink98 Posted December 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2009 Can’t do it anymore since 9/11. The final manifest needs to be submitted to the TSA 72 hours prior to sailing, so there are no pier sales, only upgrades (if available). If you leave Sunday, I’d say your friend should book now, it’s not going to get any cheaper.

Thanks I don't think you can even do this anymore - due to new homeland security rules, the passenger manifest has to be in Big Brother's hands well before departure. MissLianne Posted December 21, 2009 #4 Share Posted December 21, 2009 I don't think they do that anymore... Something about needing all passenger's names at least 3 days before.
ItsMeJedB Posted December 21, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted December 21, 2009 Thanks - that is good to know - we will have him book now then.
pxy cda Posted December 21, 2009 #6 Share Posted December 21, 2009 My tip would be to book an inside guarantee and see what upgrade he can get at the pier on sail away day. If he wants to try to save a coupl $$
