travel1 Posted January 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2005 During our recent visit to Puerto Limon, we had the delightful experience of visiting Marina's Animal Rescue Center. My wife and I booked a tour with Oscar Brown, and with his nephew Ryan and had a great tour. One of the highlites was the visit to the Marina's Animal Rescue Center. It is a small place near the docks, with all kinds of small aminals. We had a personal tour with Horace Stickland, one of the directors. My wife fell in love with a three month old spider monkey, who had free run of the place. All kinds of exotic birds, parrots, etc. They evidently rescue animals in distress, and try to return them to the wild, if possible. They exist on donations, tips, etc. We were told that the founder was a merchant sea captian. A great place to visit when in Puerto Limon.
