blackpool belle Posted January 13, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2005 On a western med cruise which side is it best to book on to be facing the quay side when docking? Or is it swings and roundabouts?
Globaliser Posted January 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Port Or Starboard? You know, this is crying out for the obvious facetious answer! :D
blackpool belle Posted January 15, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted January 15, 2005 Still don't know what you mean but I'm sure you are going to tell me. I await your obviously superior knowledge.
mufi Posted January 16, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2005 It would be easy to say portside for European ports and starboard for African when travelling eastwards, and opposite when coming back, but that would annoy you even more. But for what it's worth I get the impression that most docking is done port alongside. However with most of the docks I have seen you would be better to be on the sea side. Most are not lovely locations. David.
blackpool belle Posted January 16, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Thanks david, I always assumed that the port side was exactly that, that you docked along side the port. However, on our cruise to the Baltics we were on the starboard side which seemed to favour the quayside most. Perhaps I shouldn't be so nosy, I just like to look at everything going on. Globaliser Posted January 17, 2005 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2005 Still don't know what you mean but I'm sure you are going to tell me.Ah, but I did say it wasn't going to be a serious answer. From Chitty Chitty Bang Bang:-Port out, starboard home, posh with a capital P-O-S-HP-O-S-H, P-O-S-H...
