Thoughts on Embassy Suites in Charleston

Anyone have experience with this property?

Hi klfrodo....I stayed at this hotel way back in 2003. And I have the hotel booked again for 2 nights pre-cruise in March. Personally, I loved the hotel. Very comfortable rooms. Great breakfast and cocktail hour included in the rate. Actually, the rate, for what you are getting, can't be beat IMHO. I did walk to the market area from the hotel and I thought it was a nice walk---I would guess no more than 1/2 mile. Yes, staying right smack in the middle of downtown would be more convenient, but a lot more $$$$. I choose to save the $$$$. Happy planning. :)

I spent four nights here last February. It was very close to the Visitors' Centre where I picked up a tour and there was a wonderful little coffee shop across from the centre.

The breakfast was fine and they held a reception in the lobby at night.

Since I am a walker I walked over to the aquarium and down into the tourist area with no problem.

The two drawbacks were

1. the rooms overlook the courtyard and I had no exterior window meaning I always had to turn on a light and always had to keep the drapes closed because of people walking by the windows

2. there was a large conference so there was a lot of noise night and day from the atrium where they had breakfasts, lunches, cocktail parties and one day they had open house in their rooms and they were set up for displays so people were wandering around the hallway all day
