Mariner Internet Questions...

Will be on the Mariner this month. Can I use my Mac laptop? RCCL website says you need Windows. Has anyone used a Mac with success? Also, if you do buy an internet package, what happens to the minutes you don't use? Hope these are not silly questions, but it's the first time I'll have to take my laptop with us on a cruise.
