Ithocles Posted January 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2010 I'm renting a car for the first time this month for my second cruise. We've always used shuttles in the past and thought we would get a car this time. In the past, I've always been with a group where another person has rented a car. Being the planner I am, I'm a little nervous. I've done my planning and know all the insurance information and will be getting the CDW. I was originally in a rate of $55 for a mid-size car but found a last minute deal for $35 - in a convertible! My fear is that this may be too good to be true. I have my reservation ticket from the Alamo website and everything looks good, but I'm still a little apprehensive that when I get there they either won't have the car or will want to charge me an arm an a leg for it. Are there any experience car renters that have any words of advice for me? -Danny
JohninDC Posted January 4, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 4, 2010 They may offer you an different car, but if you have a confirmed reservation with a price quote you are in the driver's seat. Enjoy your topless ride - good luck!:)
RHefley228 Posted January 4, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Check with your credit card issuer (and your auto insurance company, if you own a car) about that CDW; you may discover you don't need to take it, which will save you a considerable amount of money. Ithocles Posted January 4, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 4, 2010 Thank you both for the guidance. I called my credit card company and I do have CDW. Thank for helping me save that $25!
