Tips in airports for pushing wheel chair

Hmm....depending on how far, i've tipped around $10.....the person took us all the way from the door, thru security to the gate at Phila..AND of COURSE it was the farthest gate from the door (or darn close).

Not sure if it was too much, but the gal was a little bit of a thing and she was sooo sweet....moved us thru at about 1000 miles an hour too!

$5-10/person for those who escort through security and manage bags, the same for the "lifters" onto/off the aisle chair and into the plane seat, depending on how much effort they put out and how nice they are about it. Not all are allowed to accept tips but we always offer.

Generally $5.00 - $10.00. Sometimes more if I ask them to stop at the washroom or pick up a snack for the flight. I generally give the $5 up front than decide at the gate what additional needs to be given for extra services. By giving $5 initially up front , I find they are kinder and more helpful. I've been told by many a pusher that you'd be surprise at how many people don't tip at at all.

Just curious. For those of you who require wheel chair assistance to your gate in airports, how much do you typically tip the skycap who pushes you?

Absolutely, the most I have tipped was $20 for taking me through Logan, to baggage terminal wait for luggage then out to my car which was way out in the parking garage, whole thing must have taken more than half an hour, usually I tip between $5 for a short ride to $10 in most cases.

Between $5 and $10..like the others, depending on just how far they push me (just to the gate; through security; willing to stop at a bathroom, etc.)...

The wheelchair pushers are often different from the folks who strap you in to the on-board wheelchairs and assist you to get in to your plane seat. They're often airline personnel and aren't able to accept tips.
