Soda Card

We are sailing out of Port Canaveral. I know that you should wait until you are out of port to avoid taxes on soda cards. Exactly when are you considered out of port? We sailed out of Tampa and were past the Sunshine bridge, but was still charged tax so Im curious. Thanks in advance

Its when you hit International waters....so just hang out by the casino and when that opens up, you are in international waters..they try and get out there pretty quick so they can make some money...grab a drink, watch the sailaway and by the time land dissappears you will be golden. lol :D

we've not been charged tax when buying soda cards from the table that is usually set up on the lido deck. they don't swipe your s&s card, they hand write all the numbers down and it is processed later.

this has been the case the last four cruises, no waiting ;)

Does anyone know the tax rate in Florida? I'm curious because my kids will certainly want a soda or 2 before we leave port (if we get on early) and I don't know if it would be worth it to wait and save the tax.

Depends on where in FL. State tax is 6%. Counties have additional taxes.
