Jan 16th Oasis Cruise - 2pm Embarkation time?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am new to RCI (3 past Disney cruises) and will be going on Oasis next week. I realize I posted a somewhat similar question a while back but I need a little further input. My interary says 2pm embarkation time for the Jan 16th Oasis cruise, but after posting here about this, others on this cruise said they plan to show up at 11am and plan to be onboard between 11-12 for the same cruises I am on. Now, getting onboard around 11-12, sounds great...check out the ship, get lunch, ect.

So my concern is..does RCI's intineraries usually say 2pm embarkation, and and people pretty much just ignore it and come on at 11-12pm anyway without any issues from RCI, or do I have a special embarkation time of 2pm, where if I show up at 11am at the port, they will tell me I can't board until 2pm? This is pretty important information since I have two very little kids that will be a headache hanging around in the port for several hours earlier than I should be.

Thanks so much for any help!

On most Oasis cruises the boarding has started by 11.30, the ability to start boarding depends upon the ship getting a "0" count meaning that all past passengers have been accounted for as clearing the ship. Although the cabins are not available for access until 1pm, although some people believe this does not apply to them and barge into the cabin areas before the cabin attendants have finished preparing the cabins for new arrivals. These are often the people who will then complain on here that the cabin was not fully ready when they first got on the ship.

However the flow through the new terminal has been excellent, I was amazed that Royal stated a 15 minute kerb to ship journey, but in most cases (once the ship has been opened for boarding) this has been achieved.

It basically says that as an insurance policy for the cruise line. Should their be delays coming into port, getting clearance from customs/immigration, or any other issues, then they have the wiggle room and no one can really get worked up.
