Webcam Problem

Am I the only person having trouble with the Tampa Bay webcam site (Hillsborough County Center) that lets you zoom in on Channelside to see Inspiration and Legend come and go?

I've been watching it for months and now it won't open. It says that the http address is wrong but I haven't changed it on my favorites.

Hello,

The camera you are talking about, I think, is a steerable Java-based camera, and is working:

If you continue to have problems after entering the address manually, try other Java-based steerables. Your Java may need re-installed, or updated. Here is a link to the Port Canaveral ones so you can test your ability to use cameras in general.

I actually prefer the Port Canaveral cams for watching cruise ships come and go. They use a slightly easier to use Java interface, but the webmasters should change the buttons to English ;-)

Hope this helps,

info_48.pngThe webpage cannot be found

HTTP 400

Most likely causes:

  • There might be a typing error in the address.
  • If you clicked on a link, it may be out of date.

What you can try:

bullet.png Go back to the previous page.

Thanks for the help but it still won't work for me, even clicking on the link you provided. Above is what I get when I go there.

It will let me open the Port Canaveral cam, tho.

Thanks again.

There is something wrong on your end, I'm afraid. The technology used on the Port Canaveral cams you can see successfully is the same (basically) as what is used on the Tampa cam you can't.

Try:

  • Clearing cache in your browser. Java is typically stored in a cache, and that may be corrupted. Clearing it and restarting your browser and/or machine will force it to load a new copy.
  • Manually type in a new browser window the address
  • Using a different browser (Firefox is free, there are others....)

Not sure what platform (operating system) or browser you are using, but the issue is fixable if you can find what's wrong.

Regards,

Johncn
