Boo2 Posted January 12, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 12, 2010 We will be on our first Celebrity cruise next month on the Equinox. I want to make sure that I understand all of our dining options. As I understand it, all of the onboard restaurants/cafés/bistros are free to all passengers except for Blu and the specialty restaurants - Tuscan Grill, Murano and Silk Harvest. Is this correct? Fblack Posted January 12, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Not exactly. The Bistro on Five charges extra. Also Gelato and specialty coffees at Café al Bacio are extra.
Boo2 Posted January 12, 2010 Author #3 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Thanks for the quick response, Fblack. How much are the charges for the Bistro on Five?
Fblack Posted January 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Boo2: They charge $5. We never tried it and it was nearly empty all the time except for crew members. I heard the food is very good (mostly crepes).
Boo2 Posted January 12, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted January 12, 2010 We've never paid extra to eat at Johnny Rockets on RCCL so I doubt if we'll try Bistro on Five either if there are so many other options. :)
Lsimon Posted January 12, 2010 #6 Share Posted January 12, 2010 We had lunch at Bistro on Five one sea day on our last cruise. I never thought much for crepes and wasn't inclined to go, but my wife wanted to go and we wanted to join some cruise friends there. Well the lunch was extraordinary. The staff there is attentive as the staff in the specialty restaurants and does all they can to make you happy. They have soups, salads, entree crepes, crepe desserts, and other desserts. So it is, or can be, a multi-course meal and they encourage you to try all the courses and try different dishes if you're unsure or want to experiment. Definitely something I'd try again if we were spending time indoors on a sea day.
WehoAtlantis Posted January 12, 2010 #7 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Bistro must be good because I saw the same people in there alot. It seemed like larger familes with kids enjoyed dining in there because it was not too crowded and they could easily get a large table. Gonzo70 Posted January 12, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 12, 2010 I enjoyed two great meals at the Bistro; it is well worth the $5. I was surprised how few people ate there during my cruise - both times I was there it was mainly off duty employees eating there and empty tables. It is definitely a hidden gem. dzcruisers Posted January 12, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 12, 2010 Is bistro on 5 open on embarkation day? I'd love to have my first lunch on board there.
