AndyTheK Posted January 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2010 Can anyone tell me if there are any automatic (electric eye or button operated) doors, and their location, to the outside decks on the Crown Princess. We just got off the Coral, and while we loved the ship, the only sets of automatic doors were from the Lotus pool area to the outside pool area and midship elevators. There were none on either the Sun deck or the Promenade deck. This cut down DW's independence quite a bit. She can manage public restrooms without auto doors, and somehow managed the accessible cabin door, but needed a companion, or to get lucky and have a bystander open a door, to go outside . TIA and shalom, Andy.
katisdale Posted January 17, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2010 The midship doors on the promenade deck are automatic. However the forward and aft doors are not. We were on her in November. The promenade deck does not go around the ship in a level area. At the front of the ship there are steps up to the next deck. You can go around the back easily. Umbarger Posted January 17, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 17, 2010 On our Princess cruises they had the automatic doors to get out on deck but they were often out of order for the entire cruise. We did a B2B on the Crown and the entire two weeks they were broken.
AndyTheK Posted January 18, 2010 Author #4 Share Posted January 18, 2010 Thanks to those who answered. katisdale: Itr doesn't matter about not being able to circle the deck, or the fact that only one set of elevators ***** deck 7 has the auto doors.. DW is motorized, and so easily can double back if required, even if a circuitous route is needed - like on the Coral, from the buffet to the outdoor pool going down to 7, across to the midships elevators and back up to Lido. . Let's hope the upper decks are accessible when we sail (September). Shalom from Tel Aviv. Andy
