Agree completely.

I think she could have some good tours. Just need to get her arrangements and communications down.

 

I'm Ernie's wife, Beulah admitted to me she lost our reservation in the process of transferring calendars, and this is after having had numerous communications with her, including phone calls just 2 weeks before our arrival. So I'm willing to bet she didn't contact Teach until we were on the ferry. Of course, that doesn't explain why she wasn't honest with us when we met her in St. Kitts, why she put us on the ferry without having confirmed anything or why the guy Teach sent to meet us nearly didn't and why he had no info on where we were supposed to be going or when. No way would I trust Beulah to make adequate arrangements for us in the future.

We've never been to Nevis on-our-own but have taken the catamaran excursion to Nevis offered by the ship several times.

Hope you don't mind a few questions. Did you do the ships excursion through Royal Caribbean? If so, did you do the 4 hour Catamaran or the 6 hour water taxi? Did your excursion give you time to see/tour Nevis?

Any to Nevis ("Nevis Sailaway") we have done fairly recently have been through Princess. They were 7 hours on a sailing catamaran from St. Kitts.

We had a snorkel stop and were taken to Pinney's Beach in Nevis for about three hours. (Beach only...no time to tour the island.) They use to have a BBQ lunch at Pinney's Beach but the last time lunch was served on the catamaran.

 

Royal Caribbean use to have one called Fan-Ta-Sea which was exactly the same but I don't think it is any longer offered by RCCL.

We'll be in St Kitts next week on Jewel. Didn't have an excursion planned, cause I was waiting on some news related to an upcoming event in Nevis. Anyway, what I'd like to do is exactly what Mdrobtx suggested:

 

If we were to go to Nevis again, I'd just walk over to the ferry myself, catch a cab to where I wanted to go and then take the 3pm SeaBridge ferry back to St Kitts. The only logistical problem would be finding a cab from the car/cargo ferry on St Kitts back to the ship. No cabs lined up waiting there.

 

because DW and I are meeting some Nevis locals at Oualie Beach. Anyone have any suggestions or contact info for being able to line up a cab at the St Kitts terminus of the SeaBridge ferry?

garfield, my only suggestion would be to find a cab driver at the pier willing to be prepaid to pick you up.

It would be taking a chance that he'd be there when you get back.

Nevis really needs to have a later than 1pm passenger ferry back to St Kitts so cruise passengers can enjoy visiting on their own.

I agree completely! We really wanted to go to Nevis when we were there last month. We wanted to just hang out and swim at Pinney's Beach and eat at Sunshines and take the public ferry back, but the 1 pm ferry wouldn't give us enough time. And of course as noted in this thread, if you use the car ferry instead, you return to a different port on St. Kitts where there are no taxis waiting for you and you're a long way from the port where the ship is.

 

I even looked around and sent some inquiries as to a tour service that would just take us by boat from the cruise ship port to Pinney's or Oalie, then back again in the afternoon and couldn't find anyone. We didn't want to do an all day snorkeling excursion that also stopped at Pinney's for a short time.

 

It seems like an enterprising person with a boat could make a good living just running a one way ferry from Nevis back to the cruise ship port around 2-3 pm if they aren't going to have the public ferry do it.

We went to Nevis in January from St. Kitts. We arranged this with Thenford Grey whom we had used before on St. Kitts. It was $75 pp and included the r/t ferry, tour guide and transport on Nevis and transport to and from the ferry dock in St. Kitts. Lunch and any other admissions were on us. We arranged to meet Thenford at the St. Kitts pier at 7:30AM for an 8AM ferry. We were only in St. Kitts from 7-3PM so we knew it would be tight and we would have to get the 1PM ferry back to St. Kitts. So we were ready to disembark the ship at 7:20 when we were stopped for safety reasons because another ship was docking next to us. We watched the clock tick until 7:50AM when we were allowed to get off the ship. We ran down the dock and met Thenford who told us the 8AM ferry was not leaving that day. He made some calls and drove us to the commercial ferry dock 3-4 blocks away. He bought us one-way tickets, introduced us to his colleague who escorted us onto the ferry leaving at 8:30AM. Before we left he gave me an envelope to give to the guide meeting us at the ferry dock on Nevis. It was a beautiful 40 minute ride. When we arrived at Nevis our guide was waiting for us. Her name was Herilinga (I think I spelled it right) and she was knowledgeable, engaging and seemed to know everyone on the island. She drove us to Alexander Hamilton's birthplace, through Charlestown to the Jewish cemetery, into the hills to old sugar plantations, the oldest stone house in the Caribbean (1670) which is a small hotel, the sulfur spring baths where we put our feet in (we did not wear or bring swim suits) and then for lunch at Golden Rock Inn. We arranged this in advance on our own with the hotel and they were waiting for us with a beautiful table under an awning overlooking the water and the smoking volcano on Monserrat in the distance. Lunch was wonderful and the rum punch amazingly potent-a truly beautiful place to have lunch. When the staff heard who our guide was they made a sandwich for her-that was very nice. From the Inn we were driven to a few other places on the island with beautiful views, including her parish church overlooking the sea. She asked if we wanted to visit Pinney's Beach but when we drove by it was very crowded and we opted to drive back to the ferry a little early to be certain we made it in time. She purchased our ferry tickets on the regular ferry (which docked in the same place we left from in the morning) and waited with us until we were boarded. The ride back to St. Kitts was also 40 minutes and when we arrived Thenford was waiting for us. He drove us back to the pier and we were onboard the ship with 30 minutes to spare.

 

It was a lovely day despite our anxiety being stuck on the ship thinking we had missed the ferry (the next one wasn't until 9:30). In St. Kitts I would only book with Thenford Grey. He is and has been in all or our dealings with him a reliable, professional and charming gentleman.:D

We used Thenford last year for our St Kitts tour. He is excellent.

 

Once again we are at the mercy of the ferries. Both ferries looked to be in better conditions that the ones on the BVI's. But if they ever had a problem, you'd be stuck on Nevis.

We took that into consideration and brought our passports and checked Liat airlines which flew to our next port. Just in case.
