Road around Cozumel

My wife and I will be in Cozumel on Feb.17th off a cruieship. We have reserved a jeep for the day, so we can tour the island on our own. Can anyone tell us how long it will take to drive the main road that goes around the enitre island?

It is a big loop around the island.

 

If you just started driveing then you could go around in about an hour or less.

 

Me and the wife rented scooters that went 30 MPH max and spent the day making the loop. We stopped at Paradise beach and many bars and scenic spots.

 

Still only took about five hours with a two hour stop at paradise beach.

Without any stops? Maybe an hour. We drove it Wed Jan 13th but stopped at Playa Bonitas, Coconuts, north hotel district across from the aiport and then at Paradise beach. Took us only about 2 and half hours with these stops.

Maybe a bit more than an hour, and as tourists unfamiliar with the road and probably going pretty slow on the east side, I'd guess up to 1.5 hours without stopping...

But if Tom was driving, it would be under 1 hour. :cool:

 

Since you'll be stopping multiple times, allow 2-3 hours for the trip, perhaps longer if you have a long lunch or go into the water at Chen Rio. Nowhere else is safe for swimming on the East side BTW.

Finally, be certain to get the full coverage insurance.
