Livingston by Myself???

When we went last April we had to wait for our little boat to pick us up and then it took a very long time for us to get to Livingston, the water was rough and it rained and was cold. In Livingston it reminds you of crossing over to a Mexican boarder town, not very sanitary and it's just a bunch of little hole in the wall shops that don't really offer anything different from any other stop. I am going again this year and we are going to plan something different, I am glad we have seen it, but once was more then enough. If you can plan something ahead of time I really do think you are better off. I think Guatemala is pretty, but I do wish they had some better tours.

Livingston is third world, but I enjoyed my visit a couple of weeks ago. I think it is much more eclectic than a Mexican Border town. I visited in conjunction with a ship's excursion and only had an hour there. (Too short) I wouldn't be surprised if you could arrange some sort of transportation at the dock.

We didn't have armed security, but the guide admonished us to remain on the main streets and not to wander off into the back streets.

I ate lunch at the Happyfish restaurant and enjoyed some garlic friend shrimp accompanied by rice and beans, excellent.
