daisy7113 Posted January 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Am new to X...have sailed on Royal and Carnival and now looking at the X Century. Looking at a Veranda cabin...I see the ship had a refurbishment, when was this done? I recently read a review that said the ship didn't look all that great but then I read others say it is wonderful and they love it. How is the food on this ship? How many pools does it have? Anything you can tell is helpful. We like the itinerary we are looking at mostly because it stops in Key West and we LOVE Key West.
aloanldy Posted January 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Tiffany - I was on Century before the Re-furb and after. This ship was beautiful before the re-furb and is more beautiful afterwards. I believe it has been 3 or 4 years since her re-furb but i'm not positive. We are going on her again in April. this will be our 4th or 5th time on this ship. The food has always been great. I believe there are two pools. They have an awesome Martini Bar. You will have a great time! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. vplsh Posted January 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 19, 2010 We were on Century between Christmas and New Year's and loved her. The cabin is smaller than on RCI and Carnival, but certainly big enough for 2. (We were 3 in a 2A balcony and it was fine when the sofabed was not out). The bedding isn't really modern and the cabin could have been redone, but the ship and service is definitely worth it! Loved the martini bar, as already mentioned. Make sure you go to Mixology 101 on sailaway day and find out about the martinis. There are only 2 small pools in the center of the ship, but lots of lounge chairs all around. The gym was really nice, and had lots of classes. The buffet was one of the best we've ever eaten at on a ship- always clean and lots of tables. Excellent sushi is served each night- check the Daily for times. Entertainment was really good. Shopping was poor, but you don't need to shop on a ship! Needless to say, we loved Century and highly recommend her.

Shooraq Posted January 19, 2010 #8 Share Posted January 19, 2010 Just got off the ship for the 2-night cruise... she looks really nice and elegant. Martini Bar is a must! The casino was actually hitting.. I made $40 on penny slots and my mom made $200. The slot machines are older and the tables were quite busy at night. I would totally go on Century again, maybe next year's 2 nighter!
vplsh Posted January 21, 2010 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2010 The casino is very nice and smoke-free. Not enough penny slots for us. Also, you use cash in the machines, not your sea pass card.
