Hi.

Does anyone know where the shuttle bus drop off points are for the Quest's passengers in the Bangkok and Saigon ports? Are there also taxis available at the Saigon port, and approximately how far out is the port from the city?

Any help is much appreciated :)

When are you traveling? I know at least for February I was told there will be no shuttle buses (I asked about Saigon).

Hi: Just returning from the Azamara Quest Hong Kong/Singapore cruise today. To answer your questions...no, there are no shuttles into Bangkok or Singapore city centre. I am sure Azamara would love to provide that service, but there are very strong taxi unions in those countries which prevent that happening. In Saigon, you can easily walk to the port gate and take a private taxi (negotiate price...but excursion desk will give you "approximate" amounts that would be appropriate. In Bankok there are two ways of getting into the city...you can take taxis directly from the ship OR you can take a free shuttle from the ship to the gate of the port where you can then "negotiate" with a different type of taxi (brightly coloured and lower priced). Either way...taxis are inexpensive...and cost much less than what a "shuttle" bus would charge. Azamara is great at providing the address of the port in the appropriate language so you can just "hand it" to your driver...as the port is huge and it is often difficult for the driver to know where you want to go.

Another suggestion: Take the Azamara excursions in these two ports...they are REALLy good! We loved the Rice boat dinner cruise to see the lights of Bangkok , which included a visit to the famous night market, as well as the 7 hour "Venice" tour to all of the beautiful sites...WELL worth the money...Saigon by night was also beautiful....a great way to get a feel for the city (and avoid bartering with taxi drivers).

You will have a fabulous time....the people on Azamara Quest are just the absolute best!!!

Glad to hear you had a fabulous time.

Do you know anything about Azamara having a Visa problem and being stuck in Cambodia for 5 days and missing ports? Someone posted on a roll call they heard this happened a few weeks ago.

How long did it take the officials to clear the ship in Sihanoukville, Cambodia when you were there? We obtained our Visas already but assume we have to give our passports to the ship the night before and than get them back in the morning.

Also, as far as Saigon at night, how much was a taxi back to the ship (or where you on a ships tour)?
