Great8 Posted January 25, 2010 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Just wondering if anyone has done self debarkation in Venice in order to catch an early flight? The ship arrives in port at 1 p.m. on Oct 4th but the cruise actually finishes on Oct 5th at 5 a.m., does that mean that we can actually get off right away. Our flight is at 9:35 a.m. and although I think it shouldn't pose a problem, it would be nice not to have to worry about it. One poster advised to book a princess transfer but another one advised self debarkation because the transfer wouldn't necessarily be leaving for the airport in time to get us there as early as we need.

Clear that with Princess before making final payment. Then, take a taxi from the ship to the airport, its not all that far (maybe 25-34 Euros) Should be able to arrange a taxi for whatever time you want, but I don't think the ship will do that. However, there is a transport station at the pier (mostly water taxis but when we were there they were helpful about other transport questions. They may be able to reserve a morning cab or tell you how to do it. Whatever you try, do it the day prior to the day you fly.
love2bonboard Posted January 25, 2010 #3 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Call Princess! There may be issues w/ port authorities that can delay you. I would self-disembark w/o question and keep all of your suitcases with you. Go up to the counter the day before and remind them that you have early departure, too. Good luck. catergirl Posted January 25, 2010 #4 Share Posted January 25, 2010 you can get off, no problem, but unlike other ports, there are no taxis waiting there. you must make your own arrangements for a taxi to be waiting there at certain time, princess wont arrange that. They may have you meet as early as 3 AM or 4 AM in order to be sure you (and the others on the bus) make the flights.
