Has anyone self debarked in Venice?

Just wondering if anyone has done self debarkation in Venice in order to catch an early flight? The ship arrives in port at 1 p.m. on Oct 4th but the cruise actually finishes on Oct 5th at 5 a.m., does that mean that we can actually get off right away. Our flight is at 9:35 a.m. and although I think it shouldn't pose a problem, it would be nice not to have to worry about it.

One poster advised to book a princess transfer but another one advised self debarkation because the transfer wouldn't necessarily be leaving for the airport in time to get us there as early as we need.

Since the ship is overnighting, should not be a problem to disembark early for a morning flight. Clear that with Princess before making final payment. Then, take a taxi from the ship to the airport, its not all that far (maybe 25-34 Euros) Should be able to arrange a taxi for whatever time you want, but I don't think the ship will do that. However, there is a transport station at the pier (mostly water taxis but when we were there they were helpful about other transport questions. They may be able to reserve a morning cab or tell you how to do it. Whatever you try, do it the day prior to the day you fly.

Princess xfers will get you to the airport on time. They may have you meet as early as 3 AM or 4 AM in order to be sure you (and the others on the bus) make the flights.
